Mathijs Koning strengthens Alcomij’s Production Team
Since September 1, Mathijs Koning has joined Alcomij as Production Manager. With more than eleven years of experience in various manufacturing environments, he brings extensive knowledge and leadership expertise to the team. He is also familiar with the horticultural industry through a previous role, where he worked with components and systems for greenhouse structures.
For Mathijs, joining Alcomij feels like a natural next step in his career. It is a new challenge, but within an industry that already feels familiar.
To me, Alcomij is a company that genuinely strives to do things right. Everyone works together to make each day a little better than the last.
Focus on Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
As Production Manager, Mathijs is responsible for leading and supporting several production departments together with the team of supervisors and managers.
In addition to overseeing daily operations, he will focus on improving production processes. By making performance more transparent and measurable, he aims to contribute to a safe, high-quality and efficient working environment.
“There is a lot happening within production, and many different disciplines and processes come together,”, says Mathijs. “That creates challenges, but that is exactly what makes the role so interesting.”
A Warm Welcome at Alcomij
During his first days, the open and supportive atmosphere immediately stood out. Having the opportunity to meet colleagues and spend time on the production floor helped him quickly gain a good understanding of the organisation.
According to Mathijs, those conversations made a real difference. Colleagues were willing to answer questions and openly shared their knowledge and experience, making him feel welcome from day one.
Recharging at Home
Outside of work, Mathijs enjoys spending time with his family. He also visits the gym several times a week and likes to meet up with friends or plan fun activities with his family during the weekends.
His favourite place? Simply at home.
“Life moves fast enough as it is. Sometimes it’s great to have everything done, relax at home and simply do nothing for a while.”
Curiosity Pays Off
Mathijs also has a simple piece of advice for future colleagues:
“The first few days fly by. Ask questions and stay curious.”
He already sees that same curiosity and drive within Alcomij. What has surprised him most is the commitment of his colleagues and their shared determination to keep improving every day.
