After years of preparation, we are pleased to announce that construction of a new company hall in ’s-Gravenzande is about to begin.
On October 11, 2024, the contract was officially signed by Peter Brugman (pictured right, Director of Business Premises at Heembouw) and Marco Koese (left, Director of Alcomij), marking an important milestone in this project. Also in the photo are Marc Hilgersom (left, Commercial Manager at Heembouw) and Gerard Hordijk (right, Procurement Manager at Alcomij).
Why a new hall?
The current company hall has served its time and no longer meets today’s safety and sustainability standards. In addition, the presence of asbestos poses a potential risk to the safety of our employees. With the new building, we aim not only to create a safe working environment but also to further strengthen our position as a market leader in greenhouse construction.
Sustainable future
The new company hall is designed with sustainability in mind. Our goal is to create an energy-efficient building with minimal environmental impact. This aligns seamlessly with our vision for sustainable food production.
Involvement of local residents
We believe it is important to involve our neighbors in this project. That’s why we organized an information meeting to present our plans. The responses were generally very positive. Throughout the construction period, we will keep the local community regularly informed about progress.
Planning
Demolition of the old hall and construction of the new one is expected to take about a year. Work will start in November 2024, and we expect the new hall to be operational by November 2025.
A new chapter
With the construction of this new company hall, Alcomij is opening a new chapter in its history. We look forward to the future and to the opportunities this new facility will bring to serve our customers even better.
