ISO 9001 and BRL 8001 certifications

Alcomij renews ISO 9001 and BRL 8001 certifications

Alcomij has recently renewed its ISO 9001 and BRL 8001 certifications. With this recertification, we once again meet the quality standards and sector-specific requirements that are important within the horticultural industry. For many customers, this serves as practical confirmation that our processes are in order and that they can rely on a stable level of quality.

Why these certifications matter

The certifications demonstrate that we carry out our activities in a structured and controlled manner. Simon van Groningen Schinkel, who guided the certification process, explains that these standards mainly show that we “have our quality level under control for our customers.”
For Alcomij, maintaining these certificates is a way to stay sharp and to continuously work on preventing risks and issues.

Today, ISO 9001 is less about paperwork and much more about insight into risks. At Alcomij, the quality management system is therefore consciously used as a tool in daily operations, rather than something that only comes into focus once a year.

The role of Kiwa

As usual, the audits were carried out by Kiwa. Thanks to their knowledge of both ISO 9001 and BRL 8001, as well as their experience in horticulture, the audit discussions align well with daily practice at Alcomij. Simon describes the cooperation as “familiar and well suited to our industry,” which helps ensure efficient audits.

The role of our colleagues

A large part of the success comes from the way colleagues deal with processes and customers on a daily basis. This is something that repeatedly stands out during audits. The customer-focused attitude within the company forms a strong foundation for quality assurance. It ensures that working methods not only meet the standards, but also truly align with customer needs.

Tangible benefits for customers

For customers, a well-functioning quality management system mainly means predictability. Deliveries take place as agreed, and potential risks are identified at an early stage. Or, as Simon puts it: customers know what to expect when they place an order with Alcomij.

Continuous improvement

Although the certifications have been renewed, the work is not finished. Procedures and forms are intended to support colleagues in their daily work. Where these do not function optimally in practice, this is actively discussed and improved. Simon emphasizes one key message: “Do what you say and say what you do.”
This helps build trust between colleagues and directly contributes to a clear and reliable way of working towards customers.
